Interoperability Testing to Genband

Vendors interested in performing interoperability testing between their product and Genband’s products can come to tekVizion Labs to have this testing performed. Genband may recognize a vendor as “Provisionally Certified” if the vendor passes gap analysis testing via one of either tekVizion Verification or tekVizion Certification tests.

Provisional Certification can be granted with Genband PLM approval to a partner who has passed the gap analysis testing for their 3rd party product or application in which the T6000, T7000 or T9000 supports the necessary signaling protocol (SIP, MGCP, SCCP, MiNet).  Test Plans and Test Plan results are reviewed between all parties involved, and a Genband Support decision is made at that time by Genband PLM and Customer Service.

For each release of T6000, T7000 and T9000 software, the Release Notes will have a section noting the tested hardware/software/firmware versions and model numbers that are supported and those that are moved to discontinued support.  When Service Providers require a different firmware or software load, on a currently supported device, than what is noted in the release notes, the recertification via tekVizion Labs and the Provisional Certification process must be followed.

Vendors who are tekVizion Verified to Genband are verified specifically on behalf of Genband. In this scenario, tekVizion will use Genband’s test plan. Genband will determine the pass/fail status based on their criteria. Vendors must provide Genband with the tekVizion Labs test report.

Vendors who are tekVizion Certified to Genband are tested using tekVizion’s test plans and processes and tekVizion determines their pass/fail status. This testing is more exhaustive and comprehensive than the Genband test plan but offers the vendor more visibility into their product capabilities.

Genband Recognition:

In either case, if the vendor wishes to have their product and company name listed as Provisionally Certified, they will need to pass either the Verification or Certification testing and they will be responsible for providing the final test report to Genband.

Genband will review the test report and the information will be posted within their Release Notes. Approved customers have the authority to view the information in the Release Notes.

Company Overview:

Founded in 1999 by some of the world’s most respected venture capital firms, GENBAND is a leading provider of converged services infrastructure products deployed with over 500 service providers worldwide. Headquartered in Plano, Texas, GENBAND has research and development facilities in Texas, China, and India.

Leveraging the significant growth in sales of its initial product offerings, GENBAND began to aggressively expand its product portfolio in 2004. Through acquisitions and internal development, GENBAND is, today, uniquely positioned with a combination of IMS-based infrastructure products and a rich set of multimedia applications.

These IMS-ready products and applications enable fixed, cable, and mobile operators to rapidly deploy new multimedia services. Whether the objective is to transition a legacy network or build a new, next generation network from the ground up, GENBAND’s broad portfolio of IMS-based solutions makes it possible for service providers to integrate and deploy the most advanced IP-based services quickly and easily.

Product Overview:

G2 Compact Media Gateway — The G2 platform is a low-sized carrier-class, compact and hardened packet line and trunking media gateway with integrated Emergency Standalone (ESA) for both TDM and IP calls. The G2 platform advances distributed NGN architectures and simultaneously supports IMS, SIP application servers, and softswitch-based networks.

G6 Universal Media Gateway — Deployed in hundreds of locations worldwide with billions of in-service minutes, the G6 platform enables Class 5 call control over packet access networks, acts as a PSTN trunking gateway in softswitched and SIP application server networks and connects legacy access plant to next-generation call control. In addition, the G6 platform has an integrated Emergency Standalone (ESA) capability for both TDM and IP calls. The G6 platform scales from low to mid-densities, is based on open standards, and is interoperable with leading next generation call controllers to enable distributed IMS networks.

GenView™ Element Management System — the GenView EMS operates in a highly scalable and reliable client/server environment. Compliant with ITU-T X.7nn, GenView interworks seamlessly with existing network management systems. Open interfaces to OSS/NMS are in the form of fully documented SNMP northbound interfaces, with additional interfaces also available (TL-1/NMA, XML).

G9 Converged Media Gateway — The G9 platform is GENBAND's 2nd generation of highdensity IP trunking media gateways for mobile and fixed operators. It utilizes the fieldproven software base of the 8000 product with over 21 million ports deployed, in an economical, high capacity form factor. The G9 platform is the best of breed gateway in operator networks that enables the rapid advance of cost savings and revenue generation from IMS and converged networks.

C2 Signaling Controller — The C2 platform resolves the problems of connecting SIP networks to the PSTN by providing interworking between SIP and SS7/C7 protocols and media gateway control to standards-based media gateways. Residing on a fully redundant, NEBS-3 certified computing platform, the C2’s SIP-to- SS7/C7 capabilities create cost savings for SIP-based networks by reducing the need for PRIs and allowing SIP networks to access legacy databases like 800 and LNP. IMS-ready, a single C2 platform scales easily across multiple markets.

C3 Signaling Controller — The C3 platform is a highly scalable, IMS-compliant media gateway controller (MGCF) and access gateway controller (AGCF). When used in conjunction with GENBAND's 8000 or G9 platforms, it provides advanced routing features, and signaling support that enable voice services in operators' IP, TDM, and ATM networks. The architecture of the C3 ensures that the signaling and media gateway control functions are essentially protocol-independent, enabling it to control features and interconnection from any protocol to any other protocol, independent of incoming and outgoing facilities and signaling types.

M5 Multimedia Applications Server — The M5 platform allows fixed, cable, and mobile operators to accelerate time-tomarket by rapidly deploying valuable, realtime next-generation IP multimedia services. As a SIP-centric, highperformance, faulttolerant and IMScompliant service delivery platform, the M5 enables services to be easily developed for both legacy and next-generation networks, plus it includes a suite of powerful solutions like unified communications prepaid/ postpaid, local number portability, and rich multimedia services including video mail and multimedia ringback tones.

M6 Communication Applications Server — Actively deployed by hundreds of service providers, the M6 platform is a dominant force in extending advanced IP voice services worldwide. The M6 provides a quick, cost-effective path to enabling IP Centrex, hosted IP PBX, and enhanced service offerings in fixed, cable, and mobile networks. The M6 enables increased revenue generation and profitability for service providers by improving the efficiency and usefulness of telephony and multimedia services in the valued residential and business markets. As an integrated, highly scalable, open standards-based and IMS-compliant solution that operates on commercial, off-theshelf hardware, the M6 platform delivers the greatest number of revenue-generating applications out-of-the-box and works with the widest range of network equipment and protocols, easing administration as it reliably supports today's networks and tomorrow's IMS architectures.
